Work It Out: Combine Faith and Action for Success

Faith remains dormant without corresponding action. In essence, faith functions exclusively for those who are proactive, not for the idle. It does not respond to the lethargic and indolent; it’s the active engagement of faith that triggers results.

God has declared numerous favourable promises about you in His Word, and I’m pleased to affirm that He hasn’t reconsidered any of them. His plan to elevate, bless, and prosper you still stands, but these promises may remain unfulfilled unless you initiate the process. In Philippians 2:12-13, Paul emphasizes:

“…Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

God is at work within you, but for the outward manifestation, you must take active steps. “Work out your salvation…” The surefire way to undermine your faith is by neglecting to put it into action. Faith without corresponding actions is essentially lifeless.

Faith without corresponding actions is essentially lifeless.

All the men and women of faith mentioned in Hebrews chapter 11 not only believed but also actively worked towards the fulfilment of their convictions. Take Abraham, for instance; his justification wasn’t merely through affirmations but through the deeds of faith. Need proof that faith without actions is futile?

“Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?

You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

And the scripture was fulfilled that says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,’ and he was called God’s friend.

You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.

The same principle applies to Isaac. Despite a famine, he worked his faith by cultivating the land and reaped a hundredfold blessing. He understood that faith requires action, so he toiled in the face of adversity. Similarly, David, when confronting Goliath, didn’t merely speak words but actively engaged by slinging a stone and defeating the giant. While confessing, one must also be working; folded hands won’t repel the adversary!

Another faith warrior, Samson, achieved remarkable feats by utilizing a simple jawbone to slay a thousand. This showcases the power of faith, magnifying modest efforts into extraordinary outcomes.

As a pastor, I pray and confess the Word of faith, embracing bold declarations. However, I don’t stop there; after praying for multitudes, I diligently prepare to serve them when they arrive. Faith without corresponding action is incomplete. It’s not enough to pray for people; it’s essential to prepare for them, as diligent study ensures sustained spiritual growth. Regardless of one’s anointing, diligence in studying the Word is paramount.

Enough of mere faith talk; it’s time for faith in action!

It’s the combination of the word of faith and the work of faith that triggers manifestations.

The Bible states, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts 10:38). Jesus, despite being profoundly anointed, engaged in active service. In John 9:4, He declared, “I must work the works of Him that sent me…” Faith invariably demands action, regardless of its scale. Manifestations are provoked by the synergy of the word of faith and the corresponding work of faith.

As you embark on proactive steps of faith, anticipate diverse miracles unfolding in your life, in Jesus’ name!”
